From a café that invites you in past a delightfully painted pink door to one that’s named after a narcotic, many are the places where you can grab a good cup of coffee in Delhi. Here are the best of the lot.
1. Cafe Turtle
Worry not that the speed of serving will reflect the name of the place for the service is quite prompt at Cafe Turtle. This cosy little place will be adored by book-lovers as they have quite a good collection of books for you to enjoy. This is a veg-only place, so meat lovers may not be able to placate their tummy.
Location: Shop 23, 1st & 2nd Floor, Khan Market, New Delhi
Situated opposite to IIT Delhi, Chhayos is a deviation in the theme of this list since their speciality is in serving traditional varieties of tea like Kulhad and Pahadi. But the chais they serve in this small but friendly place is so good we thought we ought to make an exception for them.
Location: C 14, SDA Market, Opposite IIT Delhi Main Gate, New Delhi
3. Rose Cafe
A café with a pink door and a whole lot of delicacies for you to savour, Rose Cafe is situated in Saket and is quite popular. Serving Italian, Lebanese, Continental and Mediterranean cuisines, it’s not just coffee that you get to enjoy in here.
Location:2, Westend Marg, Saidulajab, Saket, New Delhi
4. Kunzum Travel Cafe
The name makes it clear that it’s a place where travellers can come together and share stories with each other over a cup of coffee or tea along with some cookies. A highpoint of the place is their ‘Pay what you like’ policy. Note that the place remains closed on Mondays.
Location: T 49, Ground Floor, Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi
5. United Coffee House
Having the experience of serving the people of India’s capital for nearly 60 years, United Coffee House knows exactly which taste-notes to touch in the art of coffee making. Aside from the coffee, the multiple cuisines they offer- North Indian, Asian, Continental, Mediterranean and European are worth trying.
Location: E15, Connaught Place, New Delhi
6. The Coffee Bean and the Tea Leaf
You will find outlets of this chain at different parts of the capital. They are renowned for their cheesecakes and the sandwiches are not bad either.
Location: 1st Floor, Select Citywalk Mall, Saket, New Delhi
You can stop digging to find a cool coffee place once you’ve discovered Diggin. Aside from the nice ambience and coffee and shakes, they are well-known for ice creams and pizzas.
Location: Anand Lok Shopping Centre, Opposite Gargi College, Anand Lok, New Delhi
8. Cafe Brown Sugar
The thing that justifies the name is the lip-smacking wheat chicken momos which can get quite addictive. It’s an ‘express’ eatery in the sense that there aren’t any seats in the place for you to sit down and enjoy your cuppa, you’ll have to make do with coffee and snacks on the go.
Location: M 73, M Block Market, Greater Kailash (GK) 1, New Delhi
9. Chill & Chai
Great ambience and free wi-fi make this a great place to go and get some work done. And the drinks, including the coffee will keep you refreshed. Perhaps the coolest thing is that they keep changing the morning menu every single day-something of a rarity among cafés in Delhi. And if you’re the sort who believes things can never be all good, your belief is justified in this case as the café closes as early as 6 PM.
Location: S-17, Khirki Extension, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi
10. Warehouse Cafe
If you wanna spend some nice time with friends in a place that’s quite groovy, this is it. The cuisines they serve include North Indian, American, Italian and Asian. The fare is quite high, so unless you want to spend some time there, it probably doesn’t make any sense.
Location: 1st Floor, Rajiv Chowk, D Block, Connaught Place, New Delhi, Delhi 110001
Sometimes, there’s nothing like a cup of coffee to warm your heart. If enjoyed with a good friend in a nice enough setting, it can indeed be one of the highlights of your day. And it’s for such high-points that the above-mentioned places in Delhi exist.
